Audition For Christmas Belles At Bucyrus Little Theatre

Hey there, theatre lovers and holiday enthusiasts! Are you ready to trade your pumpkin spice latte for some Southern sass and festive chaos? Bucyrus Little Theatre is calling all actors (seasoned pros, newbies, and everyone in between) to audition for our hilarious holiday production of Christmas Belles, directed by Abbey Kanellakis. Mark your calendars for December 12–14, 2025, because this show is going to be a holly-jolly riot, and we want YOU to help us bring it to life!

What Is Christmas Belles?

Picture this: a small Texas town, a Christmas pageant gone haywire, and the Futrelle sisters stirring up more drama than a fruitcake at a family reunion. Christmas Belles by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope, and Jamie Wooten is a laugh-out-loud comedy packed with Southern charm, outrageous characters, and just the right amount of holiday heart. Whether you’re channeling a feisty pageant director or a lovable oddball, this show has a role for you to shine brighter than the star on the Christmas tree.

Audition Details: Grab Your Santa Hat and Get Ready!

• When: Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and Sunday, September 28, 2025, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

• Where: Bucyrus Little Theatre, 130 Songer St., Bucyrus, OH 44820

• Who: We’re looking for 7 women and 4 men, ages 20s to 60s, to fill this colorful cast. No experience? No problem! Just bring your energy, personality, and maybe a touch of Southern flair (real or borrowed).

• What to Expect: You’ll read scenes from the script—no monologue required. Want to get a head start? Email our director, Abbey Kanellakis, at abbey.kanellakis@gmail.com to request a perusal script. She’s also happy to answer any questions you have!

• Pro Tip: Channel your inner Texan. Think big hair, big attitudes, and big laughs. Bonus points if you can say “y’all” with conviction!

  
  

What’s the Story?

Imagine a Christmas pageant where everything that can go wrong does go wrong: runaway sheep, family feuds, and a pregnant mom trying to keep it all together. The Futrelle sisters, Honey Raye, Twink, and Frankie, are at the heart of this holiday hullabaloo, joined by a quirky cast of townsfolk who turn a simple Christmas program into a comedy goldmine. It’s Steel Magnolias meets A Christmas Story, with a dash of Southern spice and a whole lot of heart.

Meet the Characters

This show is bursting with roles that let you ham it up or tug at the heartstrings. Here’s a sneak peek at who you could be:

• Geneva Musgrave (F, 40s-60s): The former pageant director who’s feisty, fabulous, and not afraid to speak her mind.

• Honey Raye Futrelle (F, 40s-50s): The eldest Futrelle sister, running this year’s pageant with big dreams and bigger drama.

• Frankie Futrelle Dubberly (F, 20s-50s): The youngest sister, super pregnant and super stressed, with a sharp wit to match.

• Twink Futrelle (F, 20s-40s): The middle sister with a fiery temper and a rap sheet for arson. Yikes!

• Gina Jo (G.J.) (F, 20s-30s): Frankie’s sweet but simple daughter, full of enthusiasm and holiday spirit.

• Rhonda Lynn Lampley (F, 30s-50s): The sassy Dairy Dog manager desperate to fit in with the Futrelle crew.

• Patsy Price (F, 40s-60s): A snooty socialite with a sharp tongue and sky-high standards.

• Dub Dubberly (M, 30s-50s): Frankie’s good-natured husband, juggling Santa duties and family chaos.

• Raynerd Chisum (M, 20s-40s): A lovable local with a big heart and a knack for stirring up trouble.

• Justin Waverly (M, 20s-30s): The young, starry-eyed pastor who’s head-over-heels for G.J.

• John Curtis Buntner (M, 40s-60s): The gruff sheriff with a sarcastic streak and a soft spot for his town.
