Volunteers

Bucyrus Little Theatre depends on the generosity of volunteers - on stage and off - to help make our productions and events successful. We are committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment to all actors, patrons, and fellow volunteers. To do this, we ask our volunteers to adhere to the following policies. All volunteers must complete a “Volunteer Form,” which will include their full legal name, any aliases, social security number, and date of birth. All volunteers/actors are subject to a criminal and sexual offender background check.

Child Safety & Pick-Up Policy

Whether its our summer youth production, regular season shows, Teen Theatre Club, Teen Improv Troupe, or another activity, Bucyrus Little Theatre is committed to the safety of our young actors and volunteers. To ensure the safety of all our participants, Bucyrus Little Theatre will ensure that: A responsible adult will be stationed in the lobby until all youth actors and volunteers have been picked up by their designated parent or guardian. All youth actors and volunteers will be required to stay inside the theater at all times unless accompanied by a responsible adult theater volunteer. All actors and volunteers 18 and younger must be picked up by a parent/guardian or authorized adult. Parents/guardians, authorized adults, must check in, in person, with the theater representative in charge prior to the child being released. This means parents must come to the door to get their child at the conclusion of a rehearsal, performance, or any other activity. Theatre participants older than 16, and who drive themselves to and from the theatre, must have a signed note from a parent or guardian that will remain on file at the theatre.

Mature Content & Themes

At Bucyrus Little Theatre, some of our productions tell powerful stories that may include intense depictions of violence or mature relationship themes, which can feel especially heavy during difficult times. Please remember that the Board of Directors strives to ensure that our theater is a safe, creative haven where actors can explore these narratives, but this safety depends on everyone’s emotional maturity and respect. Actors are responsible for: Managing Their Emotions: You’re responsible for handling your reactions to challenging material. If a scene feels overwhelming, reach out to a director for support. Staying Respectful: During rehearsals and discussions, share your thoughts respectfully and actively listen to others, keeping our focus on creating exceptional theater. Foster Collaboration: Be kind and supportive to your castmates, ensuring everyone feels heard and valued, no matter the topic or external events. By acting with mindfulness and professionalism, we maintain Bucyrus Little Theatre as a space where creativity thrives and every performer can shine.

'No Gossip' Policy

In an effort to maintain a safe and secure environment for all, particularly as it relates to Bucyrus Little Theatre and its productions, it is the responsibility of all members of the cast and crew to report any past or present concerns pertaining to other cast members, members of the crew, and volunteers to the Director, Assistant Director, and/or a member of the Board of Directors. Once a concern has been reported, the Board will perform the necessary due diligence to validate any and all concerns before any action is taken against the individual(s) about whom the concern has been raised. Rumors will not be tolerated at Bucyrus Little Theatre. Concerns expressed about another member of the cast or crew to others in the show that have not been independently verified by the Director, Assistant Director, and/or the Board of Directors will also be investigated. Note that unfounded allegations will be immediately addressed and action will be taken with regard to the source(s) of the rumors, up to and including removal from the cast.

Reimbursement Policy

Bucyrus Little Theatre is a nonprofit organization that depends on the support of donations from the community to remain financially stable and viable. Therefore, the Board of Directors is committed to demonstrating good stewardship of funding. We also depend on volunteers to assist in the purchase of items to assist in our productions and will reimburse purchases made by our volunteers if they meet the following conditions. 1. Expenses must be approved by the Board treasurer, president, business manager, or the director of the show in progress. 2. A valid store receipt must be submitted and the receipt should include the name of the person who will be reimbursed, the date the purchase was made, and the purpose for which the purchase was made. 3. Shipping costs (if applicable) will be reimbursed by the Board as long as shipping costs are not in excess of $5. If shipping costs are more than $5, written approval must be provided by the Board president or treasurer. Directors of shows DO NOT have the authority to approve shipping costs.

Cash Collection Policy

Oftentimes, Bucyrus Little Theatre will ask cast members to help offset the cost of costumes. To ensure transparency and accountability, all cash collected to help offset the cost of costumes must be accounted for and submitted to the treasurer as part of the show reconciliation process. If money is collected from cast members to offset the cost of costumes, the director of the show in progress must provide an itemized list of who turned in money and how much was collected per person. This dollar amount will be deducted from the show budget amount that was originally allocated for costumes.
